As an SDSU graduation photographer, I get so excited every time March rolls around. I look forward to San Diego State grad photos every year!
Honestly I always have the sweetest clients and I am thankful for each one! I loved working with Payton! We took so many fun photos around campus. She trusted me to plan her session during one of the weeks that is less busy on campus and it really paid off. There aren’t people in the background of her photos and we didn’t have to wait in line forever at the popular spots on campus.
After 10 years of doing SDSU grad photos on campus, I have learned that the best time to take photos is during spring break and after graduation. The time between spring break and graduation is packed on campus. I have heard of other photographers and their clients waiting for over an hour just for a few photos in front of the stairs at Hepner Hall. That just isn’t my cup of tea so I stick to the weeks that are less busy and my clients always thank me for this!
I guide each of my clients through their graduation photo session. I tell them ahead of time that they won’t have to worry about how to pose, where to put their hands, how to position their feet, where to look, etc. It is my job to make each of my clients look amazing in their photos! I photograph normal people, not models and I have found that most people really enjoy the direction during their shoot.
My goal is to make each photo session fun and easy and so many of my clients say I do just that!
I created a Graduation Posing Guide that walks you through each of the poses that I do at my college and university graduation sessions. It’s perfect for professional photographers or grads who are looking to take their own photos. It is 16 pages and jam packed with photos and the prompts and directions I use to get those photos of my clients. If you did every pose/prompt in the guide, you would walk away from your session with over 40 unique images.
The guide will also walk you through how to get those ionic graduation champagne pop photos!
If you are hoping to walk into your next graduation photo session feeling prepared and inspired, knowing exactly what prompts/poses you are going to do, you need this guide.
